Teens/Adults Traditional Ju-Jitsu
The Markham Teens/Adults Ju-Jitsu program is a dynamic curriculum which covers the fundamentals of Karate (stances, strikes, kicks, blocks, pad drills and combinations), along with all of the standard traditional Ju-Jitsu requirements (joint locks, throws, sweeps, chokes, etc.) and Self-Defense.
This program is led by Renshi Gary Bulian (5th Dan Black Belt), along with the assistance of Renshi Ellery Bunn (4th Dan Black Belt) and Renshi Jeff Newton (5th Dan Black Belt), Sensei’s Rowan McCormack and Cynthia Yan (both 2nd Dan Black Belts), and occasionally Shihan George Cushinan (7th Dan Black Belt) and Sensei Nick Cushinan (2nd Dan Black Belt) .
Register for classes through the City of Markham Recreation Guide (listed as ‘Karate’). All classes run Monday and Wednesdays from 7:30-8:30/9:00pm out of the Old Unionville Library Community Centre. (See map at the bottom of this page)
Girls/Ladies Self-Defense Class
The Markham Girls/Ladies Self-Defense program (age 11+) is based on a dynamic rotating curriculum which covers the fundamentals of Karate (strikes, kicks, blocks, pad drills and combinations), complimented with quick and effective Ju-Jitsu Self-Defense techniques in the standing position…and on the ground. You will feel empowered as you learn defenses against the most common attacks.
This program is led by Renshi Gary Bulian (5th Dan Black Belt), with the assistance of Sensei Jody Le and Kaitlyn Bulian.
Register through the City of Markham Recreation Guide. All classes run on Saturdays out of the Old Unionville Library Community Centre 12:30-1:30.
